- ADSL: Enables fast transmission of data over copper phone lines by utilizing frequencies that are not used by a voice telephone call. A "splitter" allows a single telephone connection to be used for both ADSL and voice service at the same time.
- ADSL2: ADSL 2 extrends the capability of basic ADSL with data rates to 12Mbit/second downstream and 3.5 Mbit/s upstream. Actual speeds may be reduced depending on line quality, which is usually determined by physical distance from the local ADSL telecommunications exchange.
