Designed to incorporate an easily identifiable high-impact security image, POLICAM™ is one of Xtreme's latest innovative surveillance security developments. POLICAM is a fully-enclosed, fully-branded, ultra-high quality IP surveillance camera complete with infra-red motion detection and built-in remote public address announcement system, all housed in an efficiently cooled and highly weather resistant Cooldome Series enclosure designed to withstand hot climates and provide the ultimate in Gold Coast security.
The standard IP camera contained within the dome is a top of the line AXIS 233D Network Dome Camera with progressive scan and 35x zoom. This camera is renowned for its' use in challenging surveillance applications where the ability to follow moving objects from a long distance and in great detail is crucial. It provides 35x optical and 12x digital zoom, allowing for items such as license plates to be clearly identified from a distance of 160m. Combined with a Pan/Tilt performance of 450 degrees per second, POLICAM can follow a walking person at a distance of 400m, even when operating off a wireless connection. 
IP cameras, even at their most entry-level quality, allow for a variety of image resolutions, including both standard and megapixel resolutions. Most regular CCTV cameras record at a resolution of 370x240 pixels, however IP security cameras support imaging quality of up to 1900x1800 pixels. Having triple or higher picture quality than conventional cameras allows for an enhanced ability to capture finer details such as faces, license plates, and other items of evidence with great clarity.
The infra-red lighting function, which is the same used for night vision, ensures that even poorly-lit areas remain secure under the cover of darkness and allows full security coverage at all hours of the day and night. It also comes equipped with motion detection features that sense movement or noise and automatically record video and audio of the incident, notify the owner by text message or email, or sound an audible alarm. The audio function itself is also 2-way, allowing for multiple practical applications, such as issuing verbal commands or warnings, or for those in distress to be able to communicate directly with the camera operator.
