What is IP Surveillance?

IP Surveillance is an ultra-modern system that utilises special cameras (sometimes referred to as "Network Cameras" or "Wireless Security Cameras") which use Internet Protocol to transmit image data and audio signals over a fast link. They provide crystal-clear image quality that can be invaluable in the detection and prevention of security violations.

IP Surveillance systems and cameras allow for a variety of image resolutions, including both standard and megapixel resolutions. Having double or higher picture quality than most conventional cameras allows for an enhanced ability to capture finer details such as faces, licence plates and other items of evidence in fine detail. IP camera security systems also allow images to be captured at far greater distances than regular, older systems. Providing an end to interlacing problems, IP cameras incorporate progressive scan function, allowing the entire image to be captured at one time while still offering crystal clear images even with a high degree of motion on the screen.

Setting up an IP Surveillance security system can result in reduced cost and added functionality due to use of general-purpose networking equipment infrastructure. While the price of each individual camera may be slightly more expensive, the costs of cabling for larger installations will also be far lower than that of a conventional camera network as the versatility of IP cameras allows them to be connected using wireless technology, phone lines, and even have multiple cameras running off the one data cable. With the ability to run power over Ethernet, network cameras adhere to the industry standard, meaning you will have no need for a power outlet at the location of the camera.

IP cameras offer support for 2-way audio communication that allows them to communicate what they are seeing, which has multiple practical applications (e.g, a service station clerk able to communicate with customers at station pumps, or a hotel/estate security officer able to offer advice on entry directly to guests.) While analogue cameras only allow the possibility of integrated audio with separate audio lines running to the DVR, network cameras capture audio directly at the camera itself, which is completely synchronised with the video and that can be integrated into the same video stream.

Infra-Red Motion Detection - Don't let Darkness Cover their Tracks! (view more)

Infra-Red lighting, which is used for night vision, ensures that even poorly-lit areas remain secure under the cover of darkness. This feature allows full coverage of security hot spots at all hours of the day and night.
